Your Budget Matters

Money frees you from doing things you dislike.
Since I dislike doing nearly everything, money is handy.

Let's Break it Down

Don’t do the things you dislike

There is a lot of work we do everyday that is (at best) boring or (at worst) painful. It might be important work, but it’s not in our skill set; so we procrastinate, stumble through it, or don’t do it at all.

There’s also a lot of work you could do (and could do well), but the learning curve is such that it’s not an effective use of your time.

All of these activities should be delegated.

I can help.

We can work by the hour…

If you’re looking to to clarify and focus your objectives, create and test your ideas, or cultivate and grow your audience, but only want guidance when you feel it’s necessary, this is the way to go.

I’ll give you an estimate of how much time a certain task or meeting will take, and we’ll move from there.

… But it’s not your best use of money

Setting up a monthly retainer gives us both some great benefits we simply can’t replicate with an hourly bill.

Currently, 100% of my regular clients are billed this way. Here’s why. (Side note: I like calling it “Front Money” because it makes me feel like I have a Godfather, if you know what I mean… “I made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.”)

  • The Monthly Benefits

    No Surprises

Set a monthly total that fits with your budget.
Understand what your money has accomplished and how much is left.
It’s easy for my to lower my rate when there’s a regular monthly commitment.

    Proactive Insight

I’ve worked on a lot of different projects with a lot of different people. I can handle anything you throw (er… gently lob) at me.
The more aspects of the project I’m included in, the better I can prioritize the work to focus us on what really matters.
There’s more room for questions and brainstorming when each minute isn’t on the clock.

    Relationship

Being responsible for more than one task at a time means I’ll be better able to consider your whole project — even better, your whole business — when I look for solutions and make recommendations.
On a monthly retainer, I’m like another member of your team with a different skill-set. We’re all in this together.
You don’t have to (and can’t) do everything yourself. There’s great opportunity to delegate when you have a team that has a variety of strengths.

    Painless

We set up a monthly credit card payment so you don’t have to worry about invoicing and payments.
There’s no contract, so you can change the amount any time or even (say it isn’t so) stop payments all together.
Because of the tools we use, you’ll know the status of each project at all times. Let us worry about the details.

With all of these benefits, is there any downside?

What an excellent question. Yes, it’s nagging.

There are simply some decisions that I can’t (and shouldn’t) make for your business. If you leave me waiting, your money is being spent on me nagging you (unless… that’s what you really want?).

However, part of building our relationship and bringing my experience to the table is making sure we prepare for these issues upfront and mitigate as many as possible.
